To the Family of Dennis Fitzsimmons, A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of having Dennis as a student in two of my Criminal Justice classes at Naugatuck Valley Community College. Not only was he an exemplary student, he was a fantastic person. I looked forward every week to our discussions either before, during, or after class. His contributions made my classes better for his fellow students. I wish I had more people like Dennis in my classes every semester. I was deeply saddened by the news of his passing, and my thoughts and sympathy go out to his family at this very difficult time. -John

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we are feeling. Dennis was truly a remarkable man. We enjoyed spending time with him at his restaurant, bonfires, and local watering holes over the years, but what stands out in my mind is the first time I met Dennis. My husband Pat and I were first dating, and, by this time, Pat and Dennis had known each other for many years. Dennis had kind and wonderful things to say about Pat, referring to him as a “White Knight”, and painting a wonderful picture of him to me. Since that day we’ve privately referred to Dennis as our Guardian Angel who helped cement our lives together. That’s how profound of an effect Dennis has had on us. Dennis was larger than life, a true Renaissance man, and we will hold his memory in our hearts forever.

Dear Debbie & family, Carl and I were very saddened to hear of your loss. Please know how very sorry we are.Also my sister Alice and my mother Lou send you their love and prayers. Memories of love and friendship are treasures to carry with us always. Timmy was there when we needed him, one winter when Carl had his strokes,Tim shoveled out our driveway and sidewalks a couple of times. When a storm knocked down a tree in our yard. Tim was there to cut it up and got rid of it for us. Dennis on the other hand was the person to give advice and a shoulder to cry on. He helped me take care of one of my cats when it was killed by a car. i will always be grateful for that. Dennis, Buddy, and his chickens will always leave me with a smile on my face. They brought joy to us all the time. Dennis was a very giving person, They will truly be missed. God bless and keep you in his glory at this time. Our prayers are with you. Very sorry to hear about this tragedy. Dennis was a wonderfully intelligent gentleman .Lots of nice memories....he almost developed the land at Newtown Sand and Gravel up until the day I heard the town was changing the zoning. I was looking forward to seeing him this summer so he could share with my husband Bill his stories about Woodstock...Bill was also there...Dennis was so proud of that youthful memory.. Uncle Dennis was an unforgettable character. I'll always remember him floating on his back in the ocean during some family trip, looking to my childish eye like a big white otter wearing sunglasses. He was a great combination of serious and silly. I wish I could have known him better as an adult. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dennis was wonderful man and will be missed. We had a lot of good times at MisFitz and were fortunate enough to attend some BBQ's at Dennis' home. We remember the train that ran around near the ceiling. Fond memories. Truly sorry to hear of his passing and we extend our sincerest condolences to the entire family.
